I am 7 days post op and with pre op weight loss combined, I have lost 24.5 pounds from a strict liquid diet.

I was reading ahead in the instruction manual and learned I have 3 more weeks of liquids before I can even have puréed foods! I feel like I've been duped by the program.

Of course I'm still healing and maybe I'm just freaking hangry, but who wouldn't lose a lot of weight when you're on a strict liquid diet for basically 5-6 weeks?

You sound hangry! ????. Some plans transition sooner than that. Why don't you call and speak to the nurse or nutritionist to see what they say. It's so your body has time to heal - it's not about losing weight necessarily.

I understand just seems like there should be weekly checkups to check progress instead of assuming everyone is the same.

I agree. I hope you have post-op visits scheduled? Usually you see your surgeon at a week post-op and I believe again at 2 weeks. They may allow you to have purees sooner.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
