Hello everyone! A common question for all of us is the dreaded word - STALL! Tell me about your experiences. How far out were you when they happened, and how long did they last, and how did you stay focused through them?

I have random stalls and I have stalls every month during my period. I'm currently in a random one that's been lasting for over a month. Still, I'm almost a year out and I've lost about 170. It all adds up in the end, but man, even after a year of dealing with stalls, I'm still just a bit annoyed when I step on that scale and it hasn't moved, yet again. :P

Push yourself harder during the stall. In a nut shell the advice I was given by one of (or a few rather) the vsg "guru's" here. I was told to kick ass basically during that time. I had a stall last week & I increased my treadmill workout (higher interval & speed) cut out the mashed potatoes & grits I was approved to eat, made mashed cauliflower instead, went to plain yogurt & as of yesterday I'm down 3 pounds! May not be much for some but be determined, keep working out to your best ability & you will overcome the stall!

As my meal volume increased over time, I concentrated on consuming high Protein meals. The Protein requirement is met by a combination of the protein derived from meals combined with the protein from supplements (Protein shakes, protein bars). So as the meal volume increased I started to reduce my reliance on protein supplements. I went from 3 Protein Shakes a day, down to 2, down to 1 and then finally zero at a year and a half post-op when my volume increased to 1 cup per day. The logic to this approach is that the protein supplements contain calories. This was the approach that I used to break stalls and it worked for me.

Awesome advice for keeping motivation high during them. I haven't had too many frustrating stalls yet but I do know that it's all part of the process I just love hearing how we all handle it differently and getting advice on staying motivated! You guys are awesome!

I define a stall as not losing or even gaining for a week or more...losing more slowly is not a stall, like some people think. I'm only 3 months post op, but am a former professional dieter so I have lots of experience with them. This time around first stall was at 3 weeks post op and was a week. Last one was two weeks. I know from experience that I will stall at least once a month, I just wait them out as I know I'm on track and sticking to plan.

A lot of people use timers to remind them to eat.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
