Going crazy. I just want to eat. I know I know. It's in my head. It's not that I'm craving junk or anything. Literally. Just want to eat. Especially meat. This is very hard. It's such a mental game. Those who are a month or so out... How are you doing now that you can have solids??

I just can't stop thinking about eating. It's sad. But very real.

Surgery day weight 264.5

Current weight 250.5

Yes exciting and very awesome. But lordddddd. I would love some chicken.

OMG I'm right there with you! I'm 11 days out and since like day 4 I've been a mess wanting to eat, I didn't think in a million years it would be this annoying and frustrating to not eat. I know it'll be better soon and I can't wait for that cause this is awful. I'm just taking it one day at a time and trying to stay positive. I'm down 10lbs so far so I just try to focus on that. I'm a big meat eater too and that's been the hardest, I would do unmentionable things for some hamburger lol but soon enough, soon enough. We got this!!

I remember that feeling :)

My plan was a little more lenient than others in that I could some soft foods as soon as I could tolerate them. The way they described it to us was foods that could "easily slide through a funnel".

I was very nervous to try solid food though and the first few days after surgery I stuck to mostly broth and Protein shakes...and sometimes I would just use less Water in the shakes to make them a bit more "substantial" feeling.

You'll get through it. I do remember my first bite of anything real was a bite of runny scrambled egg that I probably would have found unappealing normally, but that day....that wonderful day....it was the best bite of any food ever :D

Now that I'm back on regular foods I'm doing great. It's been a great tool to "reboot" and start making better food choices. I do my best now to stick to a diet that is rich in whole foods and lean Protein, and stay far far away from anything and everything processed.

I would definitely suggest starting off slow and taking plenty of time after each bite of anything new to see how your new sleeve reacts before taking another bite.

Best of luck and enjoy that first bite!!!

@@madisunshine1 Yes scrambled eggs were a lifesaver. Also, refried Beans and the famous "ricotta bake" recipe during the soft-food phase got me through it with ease...the ricotta bake is delicious during the soft food phase...it was so good, I still make it sometimes.

Hang in there! In a few weeks you'll forget all about this time. Just stick to your plan and stay focused. It's all down hill from here.

I'm six weeks out and solids is SOOOO much better than liquids. I was dying to chew on something during the liquid phase, and I feel much more 'normal' now. food isn't the all-consuming task it was the first few weeks. Hang in there, in a few weeks you'll barely remember all this!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
