I was banded September 9th. So far so good. I was on liquids for the 1st two weeks, then I saw my doctor and he said that it was okay to go straight to Solids. He said slowly return to normal foods. I have and have not had any problems so far. I don't eat much at each sitting because I get full quickly, but have had no problems with any food. I even drank a small glass of Pepsi and had no problem. Is this normal? Or will it all change when I get a fill?

I would definitely stay away from the pepsi, the carbonation in any soft drink can stretch out your stomach poucn, or so I've heard.

I think usually doctors will have their patients go from liquids to mushie soft foods, and then to solids.

I have read that it is normal to feel a lot of hunger before your first fill, since you essentially have no restriction around your stomach, and that most people can eat all types of food before their first fill. I'm only six days out so I'm sure someone more experienced will better be able to answer your questions!

Hi there;

I was banded 11 July, and I go for my 1st fill tomorrow!!!! I can hardly wait as I am HUNGRY too.

At first I did Clear Liquids 4 days,

then FULL liquids 14 days,

then SEMI Soft food 14 days.

Then SOLIDS....

I am able to eat ANYTHING right now and I hate it... this is what is known as Bandster Hell.... aptly named LOL.

I did cheat abit on MUSHIE foods and switched to solids 4 days earlier than I was supposed to, but I was on Vacation at a cottage and I figured what the heck.... it was hard with communal meals with other NON bandsters.

I am looking forward to my fill and hopefully I'll have some restriction.. so I can get this SHOW ON THE ROAD!

Good luck to all.

I was eating solids at this same point you're in and was fine. If your doctor said you're OK and you aren't having problems then you sound just fine to me.

I'd say nix the pepsi too. Carbonation doesn't sit well with me any more anyway. Some people say it's bad for your pouch...others say it's OK.

Yes, once you get a fill you will probably see that you are eating even less but you sound like you're doing just fine to me.

LapBandit _ I love to read posts from someone with dramatic weight loss - I am so envious :) also very happy for you - would love to see those before and after pictures also. Please keep up your posts - you are a great incentive to us just starting out. Do you have any secrets or do we have to each learn on our own?

Thanks Again

WOW LapBandit. I am one week out from my Aug 21, 2007 banding. I am looking at some pretty knarly incisions right now, but if I look 1/2 as good as you at one year I will be jumping up and down. Boy you look good. Great job.

Do you have any tips for us newbansters?

Thanks everyone! I'm sorry my photos are taking up half the screen! Some tips I have is to get regular exercise, follow your doctor's orders and stay positive and motivated. Sometimes I got distracted or lost a little of my spark but it's important to stay focused on the big picture which for me is NEVER wanting to go back to the way I was!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
