What is wrong with me?

Recommended Posts

I am starving. OK, not starving, but sooo hungary. I am just 4 days post-op, so Im on full liquids, but I have been hungary since I was in the recovery room!! What is wrong with me? My stomach is growling, I feel hungar pains. This sucks. When I eat I get full very quickly, but it doesnt take long for the hungar to come back. What is wrong with me????

Nothing is wrong with you! We are use to chewing and we don't get to do that right now. I was banded Aug. 16 and I feel/felt the same way you do. I have had really watery mash potatos because I wanted the noise from my stomach to stop. But really you can drink liquids all day long and not feel good since we are used to chewing. I miss chewing and get to move to mushy tomorrow. Hang tough. You can do this!

Hang in there justplainme....I was banded on the 20th and am going through the same thing you are right now....I am HUNGRY! I can't even look at broth anymore and the cream Soups make me feel so bloated it isn't even funny. This is the bandster hell we hear about! I have cheated twice now and eaten a scrambled egg.....and I am not gonna lie, it was the best freaking egg on the planet. I am trying to get creative with shakes to keep me from getting hungry. Also, I found last night that just a simple glass of milk really fills you up and sticks with you longer than juice or Water so you could try that. If all else fails and you have to have something, grab a sugar free Jello and put just a tiny bit of light whip cream on it....it changes the taste just enough without adding many calories at all. Two teaspoons is only 25 calories and if it keeps you from the mushies, then I say do it.

ME TOO!!! I get full on less, but it doesn't last long. Then when I get too hungry I feel nauseous.

I had my one week follow up today and was told not to worry about calories or weight loss right now-- I need to eat more. This stage is all about being as comfortable as possible while healing.

Tonight, dinner is potato cheese Soup. Yum!!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
