Pain after the sleeve surgery

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on 8–3. The first day after it seemed to go OK. The second and third day I have been miserable the drainage tube was causing major discomfort they had to take it out. Now I'm running a low-grade fever or. Anyone else experienced this?

I haven't experienced the fever. But I did experience the pain. I was miserable the day after my surgery. I felt like I had been beaten up and left to die. The tube only bothered me when she took it out. It hurt a little and felt weird. But once it was out, I was fine. The pain I felt was horrible. I had trapped CO2 gas that radiated up to the back of my neck and left shoulder. It felt as if someone hit me with a hammer as hard as they could. I had to beg for Diluaded. It helped me relax and numbed some of the pain, not all. Even though I didn't have a fever by numbers, I did feel warmer than usual. I heard that getting a fever after this surgery is normal. Just make sure your fever doesn't go over 102. You'll be ok.

I had sugery on aug 3rd now have diarrhea. Is this normal? Another issue I'm having ..... Ugh!

That's perfectly normal. I have it too. Your body is only taking in liquids right now, so it's pushing out liquid. Other people get constipated, so consider yourself lucky! :D

Yes, it's very common. Never trust a fart . liquid in, liquid out.

You'll kind of miss these days when the Constipation phase kicks in. It all resolves in time.

The tube is to make sure you don't have any leaks. The tube does not hurt while it's inside of you. The normal colors are pink, clear, or white. If the color is green, then that's when you should tell your doctor. I actually forgot many times that I had a tube in while I was in the hospital. When they take it out, it's only 2 seconds of discomfort. It was very easy.

Talk to your surgeon. I think most don't use them.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
