Mac n cheese and Soup is listed on the plan as "soft foods" that are allowed. However, I am the dummy who has read the instruction manual wrong and thought it was Clear liquids for 48 hours and then full liquids/soft foods for a week so I thought it was okay plus I FELT okay to eat those few bites. I have much regret and shouldve paid closer attention to directions.

The thing about feeling ok with a few bites is that your stomach won't tell you much in that short a time...you shouldn't be eating until you 'feel' full anyway at this point, because you may not ever have the full feeling we're all used to from our pre-surgery lives.

I'm really sorry you're not feeling well, but study those directions carefully, and maybe give your stomach a few more days on an all-liquid diet.

The reason why you do a 3 week liquid diet, week 4 then go in pureed, then week 5 soft foods, the normal foods is so your stomach can heal on the inside. You just had surgery and you are not doing what you have been taught. Eating food too soon can cause a leak or get caught in the staple line and cause a serious infection then you would have to be put on a feeding tube. food at this point is not worth it. Please follow the Bbook.

That's not true for every plan. With my plan, we were "allowed" to eat soft foods that could "easily slide through a funnel" immediately after surgery (even though I didn't personally, you could according to our plan).

Having said that, mac and cheese certainly wasn't part of that nor was any other Pasta. If mac and cheese is part of your plan...even once soft foods are allowed, I would personally question that plan. It's just not healthy.

Also, when trying new foods for the first time, you should take a tiny bite, chew it extremely well, and then wait a few minutes to see how your sleeve reacts, but I would definitely stick to YOUR plan as they are all different, but I have never heard of any allowing mac and cheese at any point...surprised by that for sure.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
