LoveAlwaysKia 37 Posted August 6, 2016 How soon can I expect to see the weight from the iv fluids come off? I haven't had anything other than Water since the day before surgery and the iv put 8lbs on me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
MissKay 329 Posted August 6, 2016 It varies on the person. It can take a while. I didn't weigh myself for a week after surgery and I had lost, so I'm unsure of how it really affected me. Otherwise in the support group I'm in haven't seen any loss in the first 2-3 weeks. Your body is still healing, so dropping that weight from the IV is likely the last thing it's working on doing. But it will drop, just give it some time!
ReddGypsy 71 Posted August 6, 2016 How soon can I expect to see the weight from the iv fluids come off? I haven't had anything other than Water since the day before surgery and the iv put 8lbs on me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I'm 8 days out and I'm taking my Dr's advice NOT to get on a scale and wait for my 2 week follow-up. I'm letting my body heal and each day make better progress at getting the required fluids and walking in. There are numbers on a scale, but don't forget the inches! Inches whisper progress. I lost about 12 lbs before surgery date. Today I chose a pair of jeans from my 2012 skinnier chunky days which I couldn't get past my hips and thighs before last week. And damnit, albeit a little snug, I got those suckers up and zipped. Almost 3 sizes smaller... Hang in there! Remember one day at at time =)
LoveAlwaysKia 37 Posted August 6, 2016 I was weighed in the hospital not at home. I was just wondering. Im not focused on that. It was just a question. I always ask about everything. That's just me. I'm most concerned about my nausea. Which of course I asked about in another thread. Lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
WhtWdUGive620 58 Posted August 8, 2016 I too gained. What a shocker it was. I had to go to my Drs appt 3 days after surgery. Albeit slow, I was down 8 lbs. I know it's not much but it was just the beginning. It will happen! Good luck Kia
