Can you stretch your sleeve

Recommended Posts

Not very surprised. pop corn and chips tend to be "slider foods". They get through the sleeve very easily without making us very full. They also have absolutely 0 nutritional value. That's why one of the rules is to "fill your pouch with the most nutritious, dense foods first" meaning good Protein, veggies. Once you're done with that you will not be able to have very much of the popcorn.

if done correctly you can't stretch your sleeve. The stretchy part of your stomach is removed

popcorn is a slider food. I can eat a ton of it

Next time find a Protein packed snack like, cheese, almonds or Jerky. If you have to sneak it in, so be it ;)

Stay away from anything that isn't giving you Protein first until you're practically to your goal weight. That helps with getting there for sure. popcorn won't.

You are probably not going to want to hear this.....but the answer is "Neither".

Nuts are really not something you want to be fooling with at this point in the game. Way too caloric.

If you feel you simply can't live without them, then buy the 100 calorie packs and stick to just a single pack.

8 weeks has you in the prime timeframe to be in hardcore weight loss and sticking firmly to your plan.

Meals vs Snacks.

Snacking is an old behavior from the past that we have to learn to stop doing.

All foods will be able to be enjoyed down the road....in very close moderation.....but all foods are certainly on the menu. It's just a matter of if you are willing to take on the calories and lack of nutrition that come with some of them.

Right now.....it's the time to burn it off.

I had to learn this the hard way with nuts and cheeses.

@@Jesm1029, This book really helped me. It is written by a surgeon and it's an excellent guide to how you should be eating. I reference it often https://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Gastric-Sleeve-Success-Practical/dp/B01CDHMV0E

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
