Zoes.Realm 190 Posted August 5, 2016 Hi everyone, I am at 20 weeks out from my surgery and I am starting to feel like this process was a great decision. For some time I wasn't so sure. Also, I have shocked myself with my weight loss triumphs thus far. I have hit 74lbs lost in this time frame. This amount is 69% loss of excess weight. The center that I go to has a chart of typical weight loss percentages at the milestone visits during the first year. On August 3rd I weighed in and that day I hit the high end of the one year percentage of excess weight loss goal. I am over the moon. My surgeon gave me a goal weight of 178lbs for after my surgery. Well at 20 weeks I am only 4lbs from that goal and 17lbs from my original weight loss I gave myself of 165lbs. Has anyone else had this type of weight loss when starting the process with only 80lbs or so of excess weight to lose? I have heard that the more one needs to lose, the fast it comes off but that is not what I am experiencing. I hope I have conveyed my thoughts clearly lol. Sometimes you just get going and are all over the place. I look forward to hearing from all of you out there. JamieLogical 8,710 Posted August 5, 2016 Everyone is different. In order for there to be an "average" there have to be 50% of people who are above average and 50% who are below. You are one of the lucky ones that gets to be above average with your rate of loss, so good for you! I happened to be well below average. But the good news for me and all the others like me is that this is not a race. In the end, your rate of loss really has no bearing on your long term success. I lost slowly, but still got to goal and have maintained there for over a year. I hope you have similar success in maintenance. Sounds like you will be there soon!
