HarleyNana, I read in another thread that you feel on the verge of a panic attack. I had some of those same feelings myself prior to surgery and it was very uncomfortable. I recommend exercise to help calm your nerves. It really works. Any surgery has its risks of course, but honestly, this surgery is very safe as surgeries go. And it will be all over tomorrow. Pamper yourself today. Try as much as possible to live in the moment and remind yourself that all is well and that you are safe.

Pat, your gonna be just fine, hon! Now take a deep breath and try to put you focus on something else for a while, (I know, easier said than done!) I was feeling kinda nervous the day before, but the day of surgery it was like a calm just washed over me and I knew all was well. I hope that happens for you, too. Now, my DH was an entirely different story...

Just know that we are all here for you, we are all keeping you in our thoughts and prayers, and in spirit, we will all be right by your side. You can do this, I know you can!

It is a normal reaction to be afraid and anxious regarding surgery. I think the thing that has helped me the most with this surgery or any others I've had is the perspective. I'm not a real religious person, per say, but I am a very spirtual person and I do have a higher power whom I choose to call God. Before all of my surgeries I have simply thanked God for allowing me to be there, in that place and time, whatever the situation. With this surgery in particular, you can thank your Higher Power for allowing you this opportunity to regain your life, your health, your agility, you freedom to do the things you have missed doing.

There are many of us finding a way to have this surgery, to gain this chance, but there as many who do not have the funds or the insurance to help them have this surgery, so indeed, this is an awesome opportunity. Simply saying this, 'Thank you God for allowing me to be here.' really does ease your mind and put things back into perspective for you. :D

I really do wish you the easiest of surgeries and the speediest of recoveries. I can't wait to hear how things have gone for you! We'll be waiting here when you feel up to posting again. Good luck!
