Financing?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm Savanna. I am 22 years old and will be graduating from college in December as a teacher. I have been considering LapBand for about 3 years now and I have decided it is the best option for me. The only thing is that my insurance doesn't cover it. I am fine with that because I know that there are a lot of financing options available. I can't begin my journey until about January or February when I have a real job (I can't work while I student teach). Has anyone been financed for Lap Band? What should my first step be? Now that it is getting so close, I have no idea where to start! Any advice would be great!

Helmss --

First if you can, I would recommend that you wait for your new employer and see if that insurance will cover it. It sounds like in the next couple of months you will have a new job.

Second, I fianced through capital one. It was easy. I applied online and found out if I was approved that day. Just go to their website under healthcare finanacing. I know that their are other companies out there. I say shop around for interest rates if you have time before your procedure.

Best wishes!

Melissa

I agree with Melissa Lee about seeing if your new employer will cover it. You probably already know the county/state will be will working. You could probably just call or look on their website and find out what insurance it is. You can then check w/the insurance company and see if it covers it. I think in NC, we have 2 plans now one which is the Blue Cross Blue Shield State plan.

Also, since you are about the graduate, I am wondering if you are going to start grad school. I was saving for the lap band when I decided to start grad school. I was able to borrow enough extra money from my school loans to cover it.

Just a few thoughts. Good luck w/your student teaching this semester and w/the lap band!!

Thank you guys for the advice. I actually am considering grad school, and I may check in to the extra money. I also really like Capitol One, and I am glad to know that it isn't too complicated. Congratulations on being "banded" (I like that term). I hope all goes great, and I am looking forward to joining you in the near future!
