Complications 3.5 years out?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved about 3.5 years ago. Never really had any complications. Now all of a sudden I sometimes get cramping and back pain within a few hours of eating. Not everyday and not every time I eat something. Could this be from my sleeve? Or something completely unrelated?

Maybe it's time to revisit your bariatric team???

Anytime a WLS person has pain that can be associated directly with eating I would recommend scheduling an app'tment with the good ol' doc.

In today's busy times, any pain is distracting from our daily lives and completely unacceptable.

One thought: Do you still have your gall bladder?

Anyway, my NJ friend. Please go and see what the folks with the alphabet after their name have to say.

By all means, come back and post how you made out. We are a very nosy bunch, yes, but we also really care. :)

I do still have my gall bladder. Planning on contacting them when they are in the office. Just curious if anyone ever heard of complications this long after surgery.

I had my gallbladder out three years after my sleeve surgery. That is why I mentioned it.

WLS can raise havoc with gallbladders as well as our kidneys.

Take care of yourself, friend.

Feel better.

Gallbladder evil little sucker!!!! Give a call and tell them you need it to be checked out. I had three large stones in mine and felt sooooo much better without it

I don't recall seeking medical advice. I recall asking a question about weight loss surgery on a weight loss surgery forum. Thanks to all who answered!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
