reducer623 137 Posted August 4, 2016 Hello Sleevers, I woke up this morning excited to weigh in on my 3rd week mark. I made sure I went to the bathroom first, stood in my birthday suit & went to face the truth on the scale. I was confident that I'd at least lose 3 pounds... Well, I was the same weight from what I've weighed last week (208 lbs)! I've heard of the stories about the infamous 3rd week stall but I was sure it wouldn't happen to meet. It put me in a really sad place because I'm so looking forward to the numbers going down. I was a low bmi (35) so the weight hasn't been coming off as fast/much as some others in forums that I've read. Today is also my 3 week post op visit later on. Just thought I'd share this with you. I'm really trying to be optimistic but it's hard, I've been working really hard with exercising (30 min treadmill on incline & high speed) faithfully everyday and sticking to the plan. Please share your journeys w/ the 3 weeks plateau and outcome for encouragement if you don't mind. Thank you all! NeedaBreak4Me 1,755 Posted August 4, 2016 Don't be too hard on yourself... this will not be the first or last stall.. we do not lose at a constant rate... For me... i stay the same for a week or so, then have a drop, rinse and repeat... Stop stressing yourself out it is counterproductive... you will only stress yourself out and drive yourself nuts!... you are a lower bmi so weight loss will be slow and steady... every pound adds up in the end.. Dub 9,922 Posted August 4, 2016 Someone will be along soon to tell you "embrace the stall". I'm sure they mean well. So do I when I say don't embrace any stall. Let it motivate you to be more vigilant and adhere to your plan and exercise. If you do these two things you will lose a pile of weight. Stay motivated and never complacent. The first 6 months out from surgery are your time to shine.....to hammer down and shed that weight. Don't settle for non-plan foods or overshooting your calorie goals. NeedaBreak4Me 1,755 Posted August 4, 2016 I completely agree with @@Dub on the point of not "embracing the stall" But at 3 weeks, there is nothing to embrace, its normal and natural for your body to have a panic after surgery, you are swollen, you have been cut, stabbed and had your insides played around with. Give yourself a break and allow yourself to heal properly... follow your plan, walk gently but consistently, get your fluids in and focus on not getting dehydrated... the weight will come off when your body is ready. Once you are past healing and eating solids, hell yeah... go crazy and work that butt off to break a stall.
taprice2 21 Posted August 4, 2016 I stalled for two weeks at 2 weeks post-op. On my 4 week post-op day I got on the scale and was done 2 lbs. I am down a total 22lbs now. I just continued to walk and follow my plan. I believe that it is my food transitions that caused it and I now know that as I continue adding different foods I will have to increase my exercise, Protein and fluids. I also know I have may more to look forward to. Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

chycky 671 Posted August 4, 2016 I take "embrace the stall" as remaining vigilant and positive! Thanks to you both!
VSG@50 13 Posted August 4, 2016 stalled for 3 weeks but lost inches , kept telling myself , slower you lose the weight , the less hanging skin you will have ,,,, try adding some small weight resistance workouts , or get some 1/2 lb or 1 lbs weights to bring with you while you walk to tone up arms,,, another person who has a scale that auto logs on computer stated never looked when weighing herself each day and at end of week would look,,, sound pretty good , I started doing that , so I do not beat myself up ,,,, I say ignore the stall , keep on trucking , Protein , Water , exercise , if doing right things , you will win at end
Dub 9,922 Posted August 4, 2016 @@Dub, that would be me! Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall And I truly believe that your rationale and meaning in that original post were solid. The phrase gets tossed around on here quite a bit by folks who seem to take it is a warm blanket of complacency and simply keep on doing what they have been doing (which wasn't getting the results they wanted). It's mistakenly used as a validation to keep on keeping on as they have been when what would be best deliver the results they say they seek....would be to more closely track their caloric intake, increase their exercise and to use a scale with some degree of consistency (same time every day or same day/s every week). Just my opinion on the matter and I am sure as hell no authority on weight loss. Weight gain, maybe. I should be awarded an honorary doctorate degree in weight gain. Weight loss, I'm learning.....has no magic.....just good old fashioned discipline and effort.
