Hi, all! I am 3 weeks post sleeve surgery. Of course, I am only in the beginning stages of my weight loss but I've been going to the gym religiously and doing whatever I'm allowed to at this point in my recovery. Just thinking ahead... Are there specific exercises that can help reduce loose skin while I'm in the losing stage? I'm unable to lift weights now but I will be able to next week. Just looking to be proactive in this journey and looking for ideas from our veterans. Thank you!

No, exercise will not help prevent loose skin. Time, luck, and skin removal surgery are what you may find helpful. I can tell you that I have plenty of loose skin, but I am happier, healthier, and more attractive than I was when I had all that skin but it was stuffed with mounds of fat. Good luck!

I had no loose skin by the time i got to goal when i had my band.

What helped me was doing resistance training, keeping my skin moisturised, staying hydrated.

You do not need to lift weights, you can use a resistance band, do squats, lifts etc using your own body weight... there are lots of youtube videos that can help.

Here is an example of a good one for arms..

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
