Sounds like the same symptoms I experienced with sleep apnea. My sleep apnea went away by 6 weeks post op due to the weight loss.

Sorry I don't have any other ideas.

You can ask your doctor about medication that will you help fall and/or stay asleep.

Or ask if you can try melatonin. I used to take rx sleep aids, but I didn't love the way they worked so now I use liquid melatonin most nights and it puts me into sleep mode. I'll occasionally use the OTC antihistamines if I need something stronger.

I know why...

I've had 7 major surgeries in my 45 years. Soon to be 8.

Even if your mind is tired, you have to be physically tired or you can't sleep.

I've had this same chat with my doctor. For you, I'm willing to bet it is the same thing --due to a lack of physical exercise or activity due to surgery.

Get out and do more. Walk, shop, go to a park, just get out and do more and you will sleep like a baby.

I'm finding I can't sleep but I think it's anxiety- not nasty anxiety but lying in bed thinking about things like weight loss stalls, what I might look like at goal, what I could do better tomorrow etc. so basically racing thoughts...even though slightly positive- bad at bed time

I actually experienced the exact issue of not being able to get any sleep -at about 4-6 weeks post op. My doctor told me it's very common for women as its hormone related. He said the surgery does a number on your body ,and the Hormones are trying to adjust and so it takes time before your hormones can get with the new stomache size and let you rest comfortably. I do have to say in 12 weeks post op now and I'm sleeping much better. I also take some Melatonin tummies though for the nights I have trouble. There is light at the end of the tunnel .. I hope this helps!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
