Self pay in Boca Raton, FL $10,500

Recommended Posts

I am considering sleeve with Dr. Shillingford in Boca Raton, Fl. His website advertises $10,500 self pay for sleeve. I am looking to see if anyone has gone through this physician, and if anyone else has had self pay as well (this is the lowest self pay price in Florida I have found).

I was banded 1.16.13 in Tampa with Dr. Ache band removed due to slip 1.1.15. Went from 284lbs to 162lbs. But had a baby one year after band removal and up to 225lbs. I am 5'9".

Dr. Shillingford performed my surgery 8/1/16. I am quite grumpy from some of the pain (mostly because of my period), but everything else going as good as expected. Can't wait to shower and go home!

Congrats on your surgery! The discomfort isn't too long I hope. I was curious how often the doctor sees you after surgery the first year (I would be traveling 4 hours from Tampa).

I am having surgery with dr shillingford august 15th.

I considered Mexico, but changed my mind,

( not sure how long ago, but 2 people died at same hospital in two weeks,)

Dr Shillingsford price is $10,500

$ 10,000 if you pay by check.

While at my consultation with him. I talked to a few women in the waiting room who had already had their surgery. They were very happy. one had driven 5 hours.

Good luck in your decision!!

ami23 please keep us posted on your recovery and weight loss,

Jen

Jenjenp, thanks for sharing :) I like how Dr. Shillingford is all inclusive. I called twice to his office to triple check there were no "surprise fees". Seeing several of the bariatricpal people

have gone already is comforting. Your surgery is super close, best with that and please keep us posted! I'm also a part of a WLS group on instagram if you're interested (patients from Tampa, Orlando, Miami)

I used to live in Tampa, so I understand the nuisance of driving, however Southwest does do cheap flights from TPA to FTL if that is an option you'd consider.

Best of luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
