I am two weeks out. I have zero appetite too. Protein Water from costco has been a lifesaver. One bottle has 20grams protein and is just like drinking flavored water, but I'm able to get protein in. I just force myself to sip all day.

After RNY gastric bypass surgery, I lost my appetite completely. Before surgery, hunger was constantly continuously gnawing at my bones. Even when I was eating I was always thinking about my next meal. It was not difficult to lose my excess weight when I lost hunger. After about a year, hunger did return but it was not nearly as strong as before surgery.

The three most important elements after RNY gastric bypass surgery are to meet your daily Protein, Fluid and Vitamin requirements. food is secondary because your body is converting your stored fat into the energy that drives your body. Thus you lose weight.

Weight loss is achieved after surgery through volume control. You begin at 2 ounces (1/4 cup) per meal and gradually over the next year and a half increase the volume to 1 cup per meal. With this minuscule amount of food, it is next to impossible to meet your Protein daily requirements by food alone, so therefore you need to rely on supplements such as Protein shakes.

I'm at 11.5 weeks out. I have very little desire to eat as well. I also can't eat what the doctor recommends at this point - especially if it's a more dense Protein like most any kind of meat. I do best with things like fish, shrimp, crab, chili...

But by the time I chew whatever it is I'm eating, I lose interest long before that 2oz of Protein is gone...

I am still drinking 2 protein shakes a day to keep my protein up until this changes...

I can eat cashews like a champ though! (I limit them to 12 a day when I do have them around!

The brand name is "On" and the bottle says "On Protein Water." There are several different flavors. I have the fruit punch flavor and it is good, you can't taste the protein at all. Post-surgery I am having an aversion to sweet stuff, so I Water mine down with extra water. Ordered it from costco website but I bet you can get it other places. It's a great way to get Fluid and protein in at the same time but as thin as flavored water.< /p>

I think the first 4 to 6 weeks are the hardest because you just don't feel like eating or drinking. The issue with that is if you are not drinking.

Every hour you go dehydrated makes you feel crappier.

If nothing else you have to focus your efforts on Clear liquids. The Protein will happen further down the road. For me it was 7 weeks post op before I could drink a whole Protein shake in a day. You have stores of Protein in your body from before surgery that will hold you for weeks.

Water on the other hand is not usually one of them after a few days you become dehydrated. It can make you feel tired, dizzy, nauseous, weak and defeated.

Your focus must be on staying hydrated 1st followed by protein and Vitamins. I promise it gets better every day, every week and every month.

For Australians it doesn't look like this brand is available here yet but I have managed to track down a similar product. I just ordered a trial pack for $20. If you are interested the product is available on the Bodiez Protein Water site.

It is much harder here in Aus to get decent protein products. I have spent 3 weeks hunting with little success. I doný know what this product is like .. will let you know more when I have my trial pack.

I don't know if it would help you, but I found it on Amazon just now. Turns out the "ON" stands for Optimum Nutrition. But this is what I've been drinking. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post a link to it (seem like I read we aren't supposed to post links) but if you search Amazon, it is called:

Optimum Nutrition Protein Water, Tropical fruit Punch, 12 Count

Dalirya

I had my surgery July 14th and at the same stage you are at. I only want ice Water but I'm slowly trying to force myself to down more Protein drink and eat two tablespoons of baby Cereal a day. It truely sucks as i dont want the food and the Protein makes me feel to full. I do take my Vitamins tho. I tried sugar free Jello and pudding and its still to thick for my liking. broth isnt so bad. Try that if you can.

My doc told me, Its your body and you know if its to much for you. Talk to your doctor or nutri. And see wjat they say. I get desolvable Vitamins at GNC.

Good luck

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
