Major (Re-) lifestyle change

Recommended Posts

I decided to go vegetarian (again). 3 years ago before I gained almost 100lbs I was a vegetarian. I felt light, healthy and energized back then.

I always wanted to go back to it but couldn't find the willpower. Thanks to having the VSG I've been without meat since surgery & feel amazing!

Everyone's journey is their own & I'm certainly not encouraging or saying my way is the best way at all. However I would like to have support and wanted to share with my bariatricpal family !

If anyone else is looking to do the same (after much research) or already may be a veg please connect so we can share recipes and such.

I'll keep you all posted on my journey.

I have never gone vegetarian, so I don't know a lot about this way of eating. I also don't know how much Protein you are suppose to eat on your plan. However I know mine is 80 to 100. II am wondering how you would be getting that much Protein eating vegetarian only. I would imagine you wouldn't have any energy and your hair would start to fall out. Could you please explain how a vegetarian diet with a VSG works.

You should be able to get Protein through Beans, eggs, cheese, etc. Vegan would be a little more difficult.

True and there's also the Protein shakes as well

Thanks for your post. There are many layers to vegetarianism. I've done it for many years and have never had a protein deficiency. As the previous person stated there is protein in Beans, vegetables, dairy etc... I will be what is considered a "lacto-tarian" which means that I consume all dairy only excluding meats. Protein shakes are also a great source to meet protein needs as well.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
