I'm on week 11 of my gastric sleeve and doing very well. I have a nutrition question. Is it safe to eat products with wheat flour. I have some Cookies made with this and I don't know if should eat them or not.

I don't want to do anything that affects my good results.

You should know that I had to move and I'm not having hollow ups with the team that did my surgery. I'm currently on the look out for new doctor and nutritionist.

Thanks.

wheat flour, or any kind of flour, is just carbs and calories waiting to be crammed into your body. Try sticking with lean Protein, legumes, green veggies, small amounts of fruit, etc. Grains are really not your friend. Plus, eating carbs will just make you hungry and crave more carb-rich, protein-deficient foods.

Obviously, this is more of a personal choice, but I try to stay away from anything and everything processed or refined...which would include any flour. I truly believe that a diet rich in whole foods is what's helping me to reach my goals and so that's the path I'm on now....and it's been great as well as satisfying. I don't find myself craving things that I used to and I don't feel that I'm being "deprived" of good food....just the opposite actually. I feel that I was depriving myself of good food before the surgery.

Sticking with whole foods, I don't really count carbs or worry about them as the vast majority of carbs I consume come from natural sources like fruits, veggies and Beans. I do stay away from colorless, starchy veggies such as potatoes though. I opt for a sweet potato instead which I believe is a much better alternative. The only thing I really "count" is my Protein...just to make sure I'm getting enough.

In the end, you have to find a program that works for you and I would encourage you to get with your NUT and speak to them about plans specifically for you. Best of luck!
