Would like to have a buddy? surgery date March 7, 2016, from NJ

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I had my gastric bypass surgery 6 months ago. A few complications having had another surgery but so far so good. Have lost 68 lbs so far. I finding I am having no appetite for a few weeks now...have been skipping my morning high Protein Shake. I eat a late lunch and therefore a late dinner. I seem to be very hungry at nite and am reaching for healthy foods but just seem to have gotten into this unhealthy practice. I haven't gained any weight, matter a fact have been losing. Am looking for someone to help with support and accountability.

Also was exercising at the beginning but broke my foot on May 10th. Just this month has been feeling better. I liked doing Piyo (palates and yoga combined) it's fast paced and you sweat and burn lots of calories. I just can't get motivated to start up again.

I have my kids and they are proud of the weight loss thus far but I just don't have anyone who I can identify with who has had bypass surgery. So if there is anyone with advice and want to buddy up let me know.

Thx

I had my bypass almost a year ago now. I'm up in NY but I always love making new friends and helping/supporting anyone anyone I can. Feel free to friend me or message me anytime! :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
