What's the last thing you said to your surgeon just before your LB procedure?!

Recommended Posts

I remember being in the or and right before they put the mask on me, I saw my doctor enter the room.. I yelled accross the room to him..

"Will you take a pic for me?"

He looked up and said "Yeah, I can do that"

The mask went on and that was it.........

The first thing he said to me was that he took a pic for me.

In recovery, DF was laughing when he asked... "Did YOU ASK FOR PICTURES???"

Later the doc asked me if I got them I said yes, and that they would be posted on Lapbandtalk within 24 hours........

The last thing my doctor said to me was back in pre-op and he told me that he was going to "try" to do the surgery but wasn't going to gaurentee anything.

OH MY GOODNESS...that is insane!! What kind of bedside manner is THAT??? I would have been freaking out and needed a double-dose of anesthesia!!!!!! Is it possible he was trying to be funny???

I have no idea the circumstances of StrawberryGrl but for those that haven't done the pre op diet, didn't follow instructions, etc., and their liver is slimey and full of fat, they might not be able to do it.

I'd rather the doc was honest with me than to wake up and discover there is no band.

I don't remember what I said, but the anesthesiolgist told me they would take good care of me.

First thing I said was "How's my hair?". A first for the docs. LOL!!

My doc came in, I was first on his list for the day and I'd been prepped. He said how do you feel and I said "f.ck..g terrified". The next thing I said to him when he came in the next morning to see me before I went home was "I'm starving".

Vegaswildflower,

I like your little girl eating and exercising! Cool choice......

My surgery is less than 33 hrs away now........I can see myself saying something like you did to your surgeon.

I was out before I even got into the OR. In recovery, the nurse told me I told her all about the cruise I took in October and I also told her my sister is crazy. I don't remember one word of it!

Because my surgeon had an emergency earlier in the day everything was delayed. I didn't go into surgery until 6:30pm. I was concerned about his energy level... did he have dinner, did he have time to rest... told him I didn't want a shaky, cranky doctor working on me... he laughed and reassured me he was rested and full. Everything turned out fine - I'm so grateful.

I don't remember the last thing I said when I went into surgery but the first thing I did when i was awake was run my hands up and down my body and say "Holy sh*t I am f--king alive"

the last thing I said was "don't mess up my eyelashes"

I have eyelash extensions and they tape your eyes shut during surgery. I had talked with the nurse anesthesist regarding putting gauze over my eyes prior to taping them :) They all laughed at me but my lashes were still all there when I woke up!

I don't remember going into the OR at all. I was in the holding area and the anesthesiologist visited with me while we waited for my doctor to come through. After he came in and we spoke (a good conversation, positive about the surgery. I was his first for the morning). Then the anesthesiologist gave me the meds that 'relax' you...well...apparantly they were exactly what I needed/wanted at the time. The next thing I remember was waking up very groggy in my recovery room with it all over. The surgery went well - I am glad I went to sleep early. I slept horribly at home the night before ~ I was full of nervous evergy and needed to rest!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
