Hi guys!

Nearly 4 weeks out from my sleeve, and I just feel a bit lost!

I sort of feel like I need to consume more ( I am on mushy foods and have to slowly progress to soft, then normal foods) but I can't be bothered cooking, and I just look at the kitchen and think, ugh, too much hassle!

I cook for my family and don't mind that, but I feel like I just can't be bothered playing around with consistency etc of my own food. So I have been sticking to Protein Shakes, yoghurt, eggs and stuff like that, but it's boring me...

Sort of wish I could just eat normal foods, at smaller quantities.

Any tips?

P.S I am finding hunger pangs are striking! I know I need to drink more Water, and I also feel like because food seems too 'hard' I am not getting enough in.....

I struggle with the same thing!! Have you considered something that does make you chew some, like the ricotta cheese bake? I find cheese to be a comfort food, and it's soft enough to eat, so I find it's a perfect snack to grab 1 slice of provolone (which is only an ounce), and I get the satisfaction of feeling like I ate real food lol

I know you said you can't stand the idea of cooking but I felt the same as you and on the weekend just past, I decided to make 3 dishes. I made a low carb zucchini slice for breaky, a mince and veggie slice/meat loaf for lunch and a chicken mince con carne for dinner. The act of finding three recipes, going to the shops and spending the day cooking to tunes made me feel in control. And I have my food needs for a week covered. Felt super motivated after. The week before I was eating eggs tinned tuna and cottage cheese and - was slowly giving up the will to live :). I too am four weeks out. Can't wait till next week to try firmer foods.

The ricotta bake recipe that's now famous in the wls community is simple to make and really....really good! It's a good "transition" food that helps you get back in the habit of chewing, and while it's already relatively soft the chewing is more of a "practice" than a necessity.

The other things that helped me and are easy to make in large quantities so they last a few days are various Soups with some textured ingredients that are soft but give you the feeling of "solid" foods, of which Beans, tofu and eggs being the most versatile I think...along with veggies of course. I would chop the veggies rather small, and after cooking for an extended period of time, they were soft enough to eat easily as they would soften quite a bit.

Experiment....check out the recipe section here and on some other sites, like http://skinnytaste.com / http://seriouseats.com / http://wlshub.com

Just sift through the recipes to find ones that are easy to make and that can be made in large batches and either eaten over the course of a few days or frozen for easy meals down the road.

Best of luck!

Thanks guys - good ideas! I bought ricotta to do the bake and then got lazy - oops...I bet it's gone off in my fridge.

I will definitely have to find some decent meals that I enjoy. .Right now all I want is my cup of tea - but I know Protein is required

I ate some of these Lean Cuisine Marketplace meals, can't get any easier than that, and they are very modest in calories. Stuff like the vegetable raviolis in particular are soft and easy on the tummy to start with.

Also ate some of these Red's organic bean and cheese burritos, again, easy:

Trader Joe's shredded chicken breast in BBQ Sauce (there are other brands too):

I saw Lean Cuisine had fiesta spring rolls -- they're individual and small -- I thought it was a GREAT option as long as you chew a lot. High Protein (for what it is).

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
