LadyDarkness415 41 Posted August 2, 2016 I was so excited for this. Now that i've gotten so close to surgery date (Thursday Aug 4), i'm getting really nervous. I have no idea what the hell triggered this nervousness. And I feel like it has nothing to do with food. Its a big surgery and i've never had a big surgery like this. Anyone else feel like this? How did you get over it? Any methods to get over it?
Cervidae 2,389 Posted August 2, 2016 I got over it by making myself too happy and excited to be nervous. When it became something I was excited and impatient for, the nerves pretty much went away. I was just ready to go. Good luck to you! You'll do just fine.
KAAI5 20 Posted August 2, 2016 I felt the same way, a rush of unexpected emotions and fears. Right up until they put me under yesterday morning. I have to wait 4 hours before they could start and it was rough being with my thoughts. I think most are likely nervous. It's a big deal!
KAAI5 20 Posted August 2, 2016 Also was my first big surgery, I googled way too much so that didn't help! Just think about how amazing you will feel a year from now, that's what I was doing.
Djmohr 6,965 Posted August 2, 2016 This is 100% normal. I have had upwards of 10 surgeries in my life and regardless of how excited I am that day and night before is always the worst. I have learned to really treat myself to a relaxing bubble bath, a book and some relaxing music to help me just chill. I use deep breathing which really does work by the way. I have never been more excited than having RNY because I was so ready. Same thing with my recent Brachioplasty. That being said, I barely slept at all the night before. It is normal to feel nervous and even a little anxious. Be good to you and best of luck with your surgery!
