Typhanie85 3 Posted August 1, 2016 Hi all! I'm new here, I have my surgery scheduled for August 23, and to Celebrate I went clothes shopping! Has anyone else done this? I got a lot of items in size 8/10 (my goal). I'm currently wearing 16/18. I figured if anything I just got fits odd after I hit my goal size I'll just make alterations, since I can sew. Dinks97420 52 Posted August 2, 2016 I have thought about doing this but keep stopping myself because im afraid it will be a waste of money if i dont get down to that size. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

theantichick 2,204 Posted August 2, 2016 I'm planning to whip up several drawstring maxi style skirts to get me through the gaps.

From what I read here people often lose weight faster than they expect, so I will keep on buying clothes regularly. I'm only concerned about bras...

Yeah, and that's not something I'm inclined to buy used... :/ I figure I'll end up needing to buy a couple of decent but not high-end bras at several stages. I wish things like the Genie Bra didn't give me uniboob, because they *are* comfortable and with the stretch could probably see me through several size changes. higher 966 Posted August 2, 2016 I think this could end up being a waste of money based on a lot of what I've read here. Do you have any old clothes in your closet that are too small for you now? Maybe pull those out and look forward to them. I know I have a ton. I'm 3 weeks out and have changed sizes slightly in clothes, but mostly things just fit better now. One thing I do need ASAP is new bras and Shapewear. Which is kind of fun!

Maybe buying some pads would be an option at the beginning? I was thinking about sports bras also but they look awful. :c PS. I totally agree about uniboob! It sucks! Deehovey 48 Posted August 2, 2016 I'm not sure yet but I may try at least the trial membership to Gwuinee Bee, that clothes rental place. Regular price is too high. I could by 5-6 dresses a month at Ross for the $75 monthly fee. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App

KristenLe 5,979 Posted August 2, 2016 Bra sizes are tough - there was a thread about this - some people lost band but not cup size, some actually increased cup size (hope I don't or I'll need a steel bra to lift them off my knees)! Lol. Some lost cup size and band and others stayed the same. And @@theantichick lmao at the uniboob!

I didn't buy a lot. Mostly tops and dresses (that I can easily alter if needed), I've fluctuated so much in weight in my 31 years that I have clothes ranging from size 20 down to 10. Alexandra85 33 Posted August 2, 2016 My goal is to fit into my sisters clothes (between 6 and 8)... The ultimate revenge for "borrowing" my make up all these years. That would be awesome! ????

Ha, yeah I am the same way. I have size 4-18 in my closet. I went through and donated anything I didn't think I would like and set aside a few beautiful pieces as goal clothes. I'm already down to a 12-14. But all the cute clothes are size 8 and down. A lot of the best brands don't make clothes bigger than that. Chanel does and some of the Italian brands do. I am going to buy myself the most gorgeous exquisite pieces when I am at goal.....I am mostly thinking about coats. I want a leather trench coat so badly. Alexandra85 33 Posted August 3, 2016 I actually just realised that I never had "skinny" clothes since I'm plus size for as long as I can remember. I always avoided "regular sized" stores because I knew that nothing nice will ever fit me. I never considered WLS as a way to dress better.
