Justgotsleeved 86 Posted August 1, 2016 Ok guys, this is going to be long but I need some imput..hopefully you guys can help. First off, so far I regret having this surgery. I'm just in so much discomfort. Here are my questions. I really have to wait every two hours to sip on Water? So far, I have been alternating between chicken broth, water, sugar free water ice, and sugar free Jello. At this point, I'm not even worried about food I'm just so thirsty. The "bible" they gave me at the surgeons says to sip on water all day but I could've sworn my surgeon said to have Clear liquids every two hours (I had just had pain meds so I could be wrong, lol-ouch) I also can't sleep through the whole night tossing and turning from my left side to my back since my right side HURTS when I try to lay on it. I know people will say this is the best decision I've made but it doesn't feel like that right now. Just so ya'll know, my weight on the day of surgery was 370lbs. I am a type 1 diabetic, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, slightly high cholesterol, liver not working 100% and just plain old fat and unhappy. Any advice is appreciated and I thank you all in advance! Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
forever changed 39 Posted August 1, 2016 Just hang in there. Regret is normal. I was sleeved 7/25 and started at 369. I have lots of pain trying to sleep. I stayed in the hospital 4 days. I am still not getting 32 oz of liquids. I am really struggling. I have found that popsicles help. My dietician had me taking a sip every 5 minutes but I couldn't handle it. Not really sure how much liquid I'm supposed to be consuming...hoping I don't do too much damage before my post op appointment this Thursday 8/4. Good luck to you on your journey! I can say it's been a real rough start, but anything worth it ain't easy, right? Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
KristenLe 5,979 Posted August 1, 2016 @@Justgotsleeved You can drink all day long - just take small sips. There's no waiting necessary until you're eating food. Walk to help with the discomfort. Be sure to take pain meds, anti nausea and your PPI if prescribed. Try using a heating pad. Also - many find it more comfortable sleeping in a recliner for a few days post-op. You will be grateful to have had surgery - especially when you're health improves! Stay strong!

northstar9148 82 Posted August 2, 2016 What about an I V. For fluids. Can you do it that way? I guess this would require a stay in the hospital but it may be worth it and maybe ice chips? Sent from my SM-J700T using the BariatricPal App

Sent from my SM-J700T using the BariatricPal App Just met with my primary doctor, not the surgeon...surgeon visit is on Thursday. I told him I'm very thirsty and he said sipping Water throughout the day should be no problem at all...not to go thirsty for too long. I just got this don't on 7/29 and my weight going in was 370...today I weighed 350.1. Don't really believe the scale since I don't look or feel much lighter but after I made them weigh me 3x it all came back the same. Down 20lbs in 5 days!
