Himmeus-

Welcome to the forum! I assure you will learn a lot and get tons of support here. Congrats on deciding to go with the band!

Just curious, where are you from? At first I was assuming you're from the US somewhere and was wondering why Belgium but then I realized you didn't mention where you're from.

My opinion is...there's lots of lap-band doctors out there. Many of them are just as qualified as the next but you have to do your research and check them out. Check to see if their liscense is up to date, see how many procedures they have done, ect. A lot of people here have travelled to Mexico for their procedure and some have had it done in their hometown. It's up to you to do your homework and see which dr. is most qualified, how much their charging and whether it's in your budget and who you feel comfortable with most. I say if there's a local dr. that is qualified, meets your budget and you feel comfortable with him/her then you should go with that dr. there's no need to travel far, that just is just added stress that you don't need.

By the way, you can also go to the "Main Lap-Band Forums" and go to the "Doctors and Hospitals" section and ask around about specific doctors. Chances are you'll meet people who have been to or know a little about a certain doctor you are questioning about.

Hi, I was banded by Dr Marc on 7th May 2007, he is wonderful, I travel to London from Manchester to see him as & when I need a fill, I always take his advice and guidance. I have only had one problem with an overfill, I contacted Dr Marc and he replied within 15 minutes and I saw him the next morning, and all was soon sorted. To date I have lost over 3 stones and Iam over the moon.

Take care, Sheila

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
