Severe esophagus erosion after too much fill!

Recommended Posts

I had my lapband done 7 years ago. I have lost 110 lbs since my highest weight. I have always struggled with my eating since I had the bad done. I am getting married in less than 2 weeks and I recently had a partial fill removed because I had severe acid reflux and heart burn. Since the removal I have gained 10lbs. I also found out that I have severe erosion of my esophagus due to the acid reflux, heartburn, and throwing up. I feel so bad for gaining weight back and was wondering if anyone else has gone through this. I feel so bloated and in all honesty feel like a whale!!! Anyone's support right now would be greatly appreciated ????????????

@@betsylulu2525 I haven't had surgery yet but wanted to say that you had great success losing 110lbs and gaining 10 back does not put you anywhere near whale status!!! Give yourself credit for doing as good as you have! You are probably retaining fluids - be sure to drink plenty of Water (add lemon), reduce sodium intake and try to relax! Getting married is exciting and stressing about 10lbs when you lost 110 is going to take away from your excitement and fun over the next few weeks! Many blessings for a beautiful wedding and happy life! You can deal with these health issues after the wedding!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
