JackieG 50 Posted August 1, 2016 Hello! My name is Jackie I am 27 I started my Journey on April 1st 2016 at my highest weight of 442 lbs. I had my Gastric Bypass with a packed wound on July 26th 2016 with my weight being 400 lbs. After my 3 day hospital stay I came home and weighed in at 410 lbs Although this made me sad I knew it was due to all of the added gas and swelling. I am 5 days post op today and my weight is 397 lbs. I wanted to join this community to see how others manage all of these new changes and to share my own as well as it serving as a sort of... diary. Hopefully I can communicate with people who want the same. I'd love to share any info I might have that someone needs and I am open to any questions! I wish everyone the best on their new life! Daisee68 2,493 Posted August 1, 2016 Welcome to the boards and to the other side!! Hope we can help you through your journey! I had started my journey on February 1 (ish) of 2015 at 323 pounds. Gastric bypass surgery on June 4, 2015 at 296. I am 5'10". I reached my goal of 173 on June 8, 2016 (just over 1 year from surgery date) and then have been maintaining between 168 and 172 since that date. Maintenance is an interesting process to be sure! Not quite a vet yet but happy to encourage and share any info I can! Enjoy the ride! It is a wild one!!
Djmohr 6,965 Posted August 1, 2016 Hi there and welcome! Congratulations on your surgery and your recent weight loss. There are more good things to come! Although the first 2 months are the hardest in my opinion because of recovery and getting used to the whole learning to eat thing, they are the most exciting as well because weight loss seems to be much faster during those first few month. I too had bypass in September of 2014, I am just 22 month post op. I have lost 152lbs and and currently maintaining between 158 and 162. My goal was 165 and I honestly never thought I would get to goal. I thought I would consider myself lucky if I met the average of 70% excess weight loss but once it started coming off and I started feeling better I was bound and determined to get to a optimal weight for my height and improve my mobility. I have been able to do that and if I can do it, anyone can. Welcome to the losers bench!
Cervidae 2,389 Posted August 1, 2016 Welcome! It's great to have you here! Also, we're the same height and had the same highest weights! 442, what are the odds? Anyway, I'm a year post-rny now (in another two weeks or so) so if I can ever help you or anything, let me know!
JackieG 50 Posted August 1, 2016 Thanks everyone!! Cervidae WOW 223 lbs lost in a little short of a year is amazing! I'm so happy to find someone who has the same height and starting weight as me! It makes me feel like its so possible. At times I would think that my starting weight is just so high that getting to 200 lbs isn't even possible
Cervidae 2,389 Posted August 1, 2016 @@JackieG I am actually down 172 since surgery, and over 220 overall. But I have no doubts that you'll lose that much and probably more by this time next year.

I'm getting used to the new eating style and I can now exercise more. I lost 38 lbs the first month and the second month 22. I'm starting my 3 rd month and I see my doctors on the 31st of October so far no issues or complications... How have you been??
