Not hungry but TIRED.

Recommended Posts

I'm 5 days into my liquid diet. I am having no problems whatsoever with hunger. The Protein keeps me satisfied thru the entire day. My only problem is, I am EXTREMELY tired. I'm taking my Bariatric Vitamins and everything, I just have ZERO energy, and to boot, I can't have caffeine.

What kind of things can I do to boost my energy in this stage?

Are you having at least 3 protien shakes a day? You can also do unsweetened Jello and unsweetened Popsicles. You do need the protien to help with energy. Start your Vitamins also, my surgeon had me taking Flinstones with Iron chewable, also Calcium. I still take them today.

You sure don't need to go into surgery with low energy, call your surgeon ask for nut dr and get their recommendations. Wishing you great success on your journey!

I'm supposed to really have 4 shakes a day, but I can only get down three. My goal is 60-70 grams of Protein, and often with my three high Protein Shakes I am able to exceed my goal. I'm not really doing any eating other than my three shakes because I'm simply not hungry between trying to hit my Water goals and my Protein goals.

I'm taking optisource Vitamins which contain Iron and Calcium three times per day, the bottle says you can take up to four. But at max I take three which has only helped slightly.

What am I missing here? Besides not having my Soup and Popsicles I feel like I'm doing everything right.

I wish my surgeon would allow Vitamins during 2 week pre op diet, but I had to stop taking my Vitamins as they said they it may affect your blood clotting time. ???? Also no NSAIDS once in pre-op diet.

I keep getting leg cramps, probably due to lack of potassium or Calcium.

Wow, no vitamins? Not even chewables made for Bariatric patients? Geeze that's rough. I know I'm not getting enough vitamins and minerals from these Protein drinks alone. So that's why I added these in. My Pre-surgical nurse said all my meds were fine. Except I can't take my metformin the morning of and I am not allowed NSAIDS either.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
