rydersmama 804 Posted August 28, 2016 I have saved hoards of money since having wls...this is hard to admit, but I figured it out and I was spending about $150 per week on junk food alone!! I'd go to the store every second day to fill up on chips and garbage, go home and eat it all, then back to the store. I still can't believe how much money I spent. I've always bought and made sure my family eats healthy....you know how it goes, take care of everyone else before yourself....so my food budget in that respect hasn't changed Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Jane1979 270 Posted August 28, 2016 Seems like it's going to be much more expensive. We're a family of 3. I know the grocery list won't actually change. Protein and Vitamins are rather expensive no matter where you buy them. Where it actually saves money in my opinion is in the health care bill! I'm really looking forward to my first appointment. I even called to see if the Dr had any cancellations so I could get in sooner. (No luck there) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Rokumok4 53 Posted August 28, 2016 food spending has increased. We are a family of 5, and we are still buying all the "normal" groceries for the kids and husband. Now we are adding my premier shakes (not cheap), broths, yogurts and Vitamins. Note to self: I don't have to take this day all at once but rather one step, one breath and one moment at a time. I am only one person.
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted August 28, 2016 I know for a fact the Coca-Cola company is no longer benefitting from me.
higher 966 Posted August 29, 2016 Today was the first day I had to buy lunch at work. I had to get out super early this AM and forgot to pack my lunch.< /p> I walked 8 blocks round trip to the organic grocery store and paid $3.79 for 3 oz of freshly roasted herbed turkey breast. Pre-op I regularly ordered in lunch often spending as much as $25 to have sushi, sandwiches, Soups, salads etc delivered to my office. With a side of chips. And maybe a brownie. Seems to me from this thread that people with families to feed are spending MORE because they have to supplement their family food budget with WLS friendly food. But us single folk who fend for ourselves are seeing the savings.
