OTC vitamins, suggestions

Recommended Posts

Eight weeks out and tired of the chewable vitamins. NUT says to be sure Vitamins are "bariatric specific". Currently taking chewable Celebrate Multi-Complete 36 with Iron. Clinic sells vitamins and will not recommend any vitamins other than the ones they sell. I'm located a ways away from the clinic and hope I can find a Vitamin.< /p>

OTC locally.

Not sure what "bariatric specific" means either??

Want a vitamine I do not have to chew but must have iron or I need to take an additional iron tablet.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I was referred to Flinstons Vitamin with Iron, yes they are chewable. But I take 2 a day, am and pm and same for Calcium two times a day, they are like gummies.< /p>

Bariatric Advantage works great for me in all their chewable offerings. Flavors are good....no bad aftertaste.

My doc gave us a list of Vitamins. Flintstone chewable with Iron was at the top of the list. Centrum Silver chewable, store brand chewables like target, etc, and nature made chewable.

Way less expensive than what your doc is trying to get you to buy and has everything you need in it and more.

Should have added that I am taking 1500 mg Calcium and Vitamin D.

I have seen the Flintstone plus Iron mentioned several times.

The only complaint/concern I have had about my clinic is that they sell/push Protein and Vitamins at marked up prices.

Some friends that have had the sleeve are not even required to take vitamin/minerals. I am 67 and probably need to be on vitamins/minerals anyway.

Thank you for the replies. Off to get some Flintstones, "Yabba dabba du".

Thanks

Steve

I have never taken a bariatric specific Vitamin in my life, and here I am 3 years post-op, get my labs drawn regularly and they have always been stellar. Bariatric specific Vitamins are expensive, high calorie, and high carb, and they can bite me.

Look for a vitamin labeled "high potency." For the first six months after surgery, I took a double dose (one in the morning, one at night), then switched to one daily when I was eating more real food.< /p>

The brand I use is Trader Joe's High Potency chewable Multi-Vitamin, because it is the cheapest I have found and it tastes fine. They also make a regular pill (non-chewable) version, but you may find the chewable easier on your stomach (true for all vitamins, not just Trader Joe's).

Good luck!

This isn't a Vitamin, but I didn't want to start a new thread for this. Anyone take melatonin to help them fall asleep? I'm 11 days post op and I can't fall asleep at night. Is this dangerous or okay? Anyone have any experience?

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
