Ate too fast... Lesson learned

Recommended Posts

6 weeks after my sleeve I had to go to lunch with clients; while waiting for my salmon I drank my glass of Water...then ate the fish when it arrived. Shortly after eating half I excused myself to go puke out all of it. Lesson learned; don't drink before or while eating!

Oh my ! I thought I was crazy when scrambled eggs make my tummy hurt sooooo bad ! And I tried some roasted mashed up cauliflower with cheese and then I was in absolute agony . It felt like someone was ripping out my stomach ! But I don't have any problems with meat .. Weird

I have the toughest time when I am eating with other people and having conversation. I lose my concentration and end up eating too fast. And then comes the inevitable vomiting. It's SO miserable!!

It's official- scrambled eggs are evil. They lure you in with their yellowness and their butteryness (with some lovely flecks of green chives) and they turn round and kick you as hard as they can. Ruined Saturday morning, nauseous all day. They should be proscribed as a class A drug. Evil evil evil (continues muttering murderously....)

I have the worst time when I am eating dinner and my 2 year old needs my help or attention. I take my attention off of small bites and waiting and tend to just take a bigger bite or eat faster out of old habits. I really have to pay attention now where before I would eat while doing other things all of the time. And I'm the same way with eggs. Wish I could do them but just can't.

So odd .. Scrambled eggs are evil ! I can eat s piece of steak easier than an egg . I'm going to try a hard boiled egg and see if that makes s difference .

I threw up a scrambled egg also. It was weird though, as the first scrambled egg was fine, so weeks later I had another one.

I guess that one was drier though. Soonest I ate it, it got stuck in the middle of my oesophagus, then the burning started travelling up, then a quick run to the bathroom.

Same with steak, it was OK few times (mince), and then it all came up again.

So, eating safer foods for me now ..... fish and chicken and yoghurt.

How do people prepare scrambled eggs? Salt, pepper, milk and egg in a buttered pan?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
