I am a week and a half post op band to bypass. Today I had 2 oz of sugar free Jello and ate it way too quickly. I wasn't really paying attention while I ate and ended up eating it all pretty fast. About ten minutes later, I got hit with diarrhea and then started feeling dizzy and trembling a little. I had to go lay down and felt better about an hour later. Was that dumping syndrome?

Yes, that sure sounds like it maybe a mild case of it. You might have eaten too fast. SF Jello shouldn't cause it so you might try it again but go very slow.

That does sound like it but not sure why--must have been that you ate too fast. I don't get diarhea but I do get the fast hear beating, nausea, and lightheadedness. Not sure how to describe the rest--almost like I could pass out but I don't.

It's a misconception that dumping comes on by only eating too much sugar or fats. I dump if i drink Water too quickly. It can be a bummer. Just be super mindful going forward and you should be fine.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
