Oh believe me as soon as they call me/email me to let me know the orders are in for my blood work I will be at Kaiser ASAP! It isn't very far from me. I've been checking kp.org all morning lol.

Best of luck to you! I went through Kaiser and I remember the process like it was yesterday. I thought my surgery date would never arrive. And then finally it was here, and all the agony of waiting was gone... like it never happened.

I'm a year out now and couldn't be happier. I would do it all over again in a second!

You're going to love your new life!

I Just finished my 12wk option classes with Kaiser in Fontana,Ca. August 2. All by labs and my visit to a support group is all done. Im just waiting for an appt. w/ therapist for mental evaluation, bariatric physician and surgeon. If I dont hear anything by August 30, I am to call Kaiser. Hopefully I get a call this week. The classes are great. So much necessary information to keep you prepared throughout the entire journey. Take lots of notes and get to know the ppl in your class. It helps to form a support group while taking the class. I drove about 1/2 hr to class and ended up meeting my classmates and learned they lived near me. Good luck!

The funny thing is that when I was leaving orientation, my next door neighbor was outside & apparently she's taking her last class this coming week! This will be awesome. We don't have much in common but we've talked a few times in the last 5 years that I've lived here (they've known my dad for 20 years). I'm really excited about all of this. I know it will go by fast. I just want to be on the other side of it already lol.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
