Hi everyone! so today I am 4 days post op & the only pain I have is the biggest incision where they removed my stomach from. I only feel pain when I walk up the stairs, move a certain way, or have to use the bathroom. I know this isn't that serious, but I would like to know when Your big incision stopped hurting. I have been using a heating pad daily & putting a pillow on my stomach which helps, but doesn't stop the pain completely.

I don't think I can deal with this for a month :( I am only on tylenol right now.

Once I stopped the pain pills I didn't even start taking Tylenol. The pain wasn't bad at all, just tender enough to let me know it was there. I was driving and back at work after two weeks.

I never took any pain pills after day 2 - guess I was fortunate .

I had a lot of pain there, it was pulling as if the skin and attached muscle had been stitched to something inside me that only lined up when I was lying down. When I stood or sat it was really uncomfortable. It got so bad after the first week that I rang the nurse and she told me that some people get the pain and some don't, sometimes the surgeons hit a nerve and that causes the pain to be worst for some people. And that it would go away.

She was right! It progressively got better and by about week three I wasn't in any pain at all. So hang in there, it will get better :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
