QueenLeo 9 Posted July 28, 2016 I need some buddies. I just had my first appointment yesterday. Still really undecided on which surgery I want to do. But really leaning towards RNY. Most likely will get that one Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App

QueenLeo 9 Posted July 28, 2016 Welcome. I had my rny almost a year ago. If I can help you at all, let me know! Thank you. How are things going for you? My only hesitation on rny is the malabsorption. I'm concerns about that. Other then that I'm all for rny. mylastchance21 82 Posted July 28, 2016 I'll have my 3rd visit with the nutritionist in the morning. 3 more left. I'm excited and scared at the same time. Hoping for a surgery date in November. I have decided on the sleeve due to the malabsorption as well, in addition to Idk how I feel about things bring rerouted but then again I'm Getting 80% of my stomach removed- so go figure! However I'm pretty confident that I won't change my mind regarding which surgery Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
achappex3 346 Posted July 28, 2016 (edited) First of all, congrats on taking that step!!!! From personal experience, those 6 months will FLY!!! I'll be having my 4th this coming wed. Hoping for RNY this November! Also malabsorption from what I've read, asked, and have heard from the meetings I've gone too, is something like a tool. So that helped put my mind at ease some! *Samantha* 15 Posted July 28, 2016 I'm just finishing my 6 months with my appointment in 2 weeks and I will tell you that it goes by so fast! The small changes that you can make now during the six-month time will help you with your success moving forward I had a very hard time giving up soda and my ice coffee but now that it's gone I don't even miss it Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App
Tayfusion 7 Posted July 28, 2016 Hello, Nice to meet you. I'll have my fourth appt out of 6 on 8/26/ and I've decided on RNY, if you take an bariatric Vitamin and follow your surgeons order then malabsorption shouldn't be a problem if that's what you mean. tholbert08 51 Posted July 28, 2016 I have 2 under my belt, 4 to go with the last one set for November 1st. Praying for quick approval and surgery mid to end of November! Going to discuss results from endoscopy on the 5th to get a final decision on surgery type. Hoping for the sleeve but will take bypass if that is the verdict. Just ready for a healthy rest of my life! Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
QueenLeo 9 Posted July 28, 2016 Thank you all for the replies. I wish you all the best of luck. If any of you want to keep in touch go ahead and message me. You guys have put my mind at ease a bit. So I haven't had my appointment with the dietician yet, what all do they discuss? My insurance doesn't require me to loss any weight, neither does my Dr. I'm just excited for everything really. I mean who isn't lol. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App
Cervidae 2,389 Posted July 28, 2016 @@QueenLeo - Like @@Tayfusion says, if you do everything right, you'll almost certainly be just fine. I'll be having my 1-year blood work check up in a couple weeks, so I'll be happy to show you how everything looks, but everything has been perfect. I've had no complications, and I've lost 172 pounds since the day of surgery. Most likely I'll hit the 180-pound lost mark by one year out. I would do this over again a thousand times if I had to, and choose RNY every single time. You can have success with either surgery, I'm just a huge proponent of the bypass because of how incredibly amazing my life has become because of it.

But I do have some questions when I first start. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App
