My nutritionist and my surgeon told me I need to be getting at least 1200 calories a day and that this will help weight loss and I'll feel better. But I'm having trouble doing that. Sometimes after I take a few bites of something I start feeling sick and stop. Or when I try to drink a smoothie with a bunch of calories (as suggested by them) I can only do a little bit. Any tips on how to get enough calories because I'm certainly not and I know it has a big effect on weight loss.

You have to build up to that many calories. I didn't get there until almost 9 month and even now my calorie goal is in the 1400 range and I have a hard time getting there every day. I am running well over a 1000 calories deficit every day, so it is important to get my calories up but we can only eat so much at a time.

I'm not sure about a smoothie with a bunch of calories. Are you sure you understood their instructions? Most doctors know you can't eat that much early on. Are you meeting your Protein goals? that is more important than calories

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
