healthier&happier4life 86 Posted July 27, 2016 I'm 5 weeks and 3 days post op and had my 2nd follow-up today with the surgeon. I've lost about 30 pounds and he said that was "OK." Just OK? I don't know why I didn't ask him why it was just okay. But, I feel disappointed, because I was feeling proud of that weight loss before I saw him. Now, I'm thinking it's not enough to be proud about.
MinaDina 89 Posted July 27, 2016 (edited) I'm 7 days away from my surgery and I know I'll be happy as a pig in mud when I lose 30. So excuse me if I say...BUMP your Dr's less than enthusiastic response! He wasn't carrying around that 30lbs, you were. And guess what you lost them! How amazing is that ?? Imagine your chances of doing that pre surgery, think about where you were this time last year. AND guess what else... You will keep losing more. Yeah sure your Docs the guy who helped make it happen, but you don't need his validation for this. This is your achievement be proud of it, and all the ones that follow. It's never too late, until its too late Edited July 27, 2016 by MinaDina
healthier&happier4life 86 Posted July 28, 2016 @MinaDina. THANK YOU! You are so right. I guess I am one who seeks the approval of others, and I need to quit doing that! My husband reminded me that my doctor, while good, is not Mr. Personality, and an "ok" from him is probably as good as it gets. Either way, you are right. I have a lot to be proud of! Thanks for putting this in perspective for me. As for you.... 1 week to go! I know you're excited. I was anxious, nervous, and excited before my bypass! I wish you well. Please let me know how your surgery goes.
Djmohr 6,965 Posted July 28, 2016 Congratulations on a great loss. You should be proud, and don't worry about what he thinks it is only what you think and how you feel that matters!
KristenLe 5,979 Posted July 28, 2016 As @@MinaDina said - I'd also be happy as a pig in mud AND I'd be dancing in the streets!!! Drs ... Especially surgeons aren't known for their bedside manner! OK to him is wootwoot to a normal person!!! Be proud!!! Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App
James Marusek 5,244 Posted July 28, 2016 Sounds like a good weight loss after 5 weeks and 3 days. Keep it up.
rte837 141 Posted July 28, 2016 What's wrong with "ok"? Don't forget, your Dr. sees this everyday and he's ok with what you did. YOU are the one to be blown away with what you did. YOU know how monumental it is for YOU. You got his approval with ok. Let that be enough to get from him (or her). Trust me; more comments will be coming from more people. And that's great. But YOU are the only one who knows how truly monumental it is for YOU!! Congratulations on an amazing start!!!
daniotra 298 Posted July 28, 2016 Your husband is probably completely correct. Some doctors just aren't super enthusiastic Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Mudgy6 88 Posted July 30, 2016 I would love to lose 30lbs before my appt. it wouldnt even bother me if he said that was ok. My sheet says I could have grits. I'm only 4days out. I called to make sure that I was reading right and he said that it was ok. Well I should not have done because now my stomach hurts. I feel like I want to make myself bring it back up Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
