Hi everyone I am one week post-op and the gas has not moved much. It feels like it squeezes the sternum and releases. Will this ever go away? I go back to work on Monday I don't want to be in meetings with this discomfort.

Chewing gum causes gas. It is one of the things they tell you to stop doing. Gas X strips and Mylecon drops worked for me. My gas pains started to subside right around the 1 week mark. It will get better! Don't chew gum, whatever you do!

Is crazy but I have been having terrible gas and Im starting to think it might be the gum. I didnt even know chewing gum is bad.

I didn't have a gas issue post-op, but one thing my surgeon recommended in addition to walking was getting a back rub.

I am preparing for surgery next month. I am concerned about the gas pains, as after my c section I had the worst gas pains. I asked my surgeon about gas strips and he said I wouldn't need them. I am confused as they seem to be recommended by patients. Do they dissolve in the mouth? I would be concerned if they don't, and end up in the new stomach.
