Just wondering if this is anyone else. I am five weeks post op. Breakfast is usually cheese grits with added cheese. I can eat about half a packet most days. I am working on more ideas as eggs and I don't always get along.

Then I will usually eat just a bit for lunch--a few bites of chicken for example. I am never really hungry, I just make myself eat.

Then around 4, I start feeling a bit hungry and will eat something. But then I want something else a few hours later. I eat more frequently at night and seems like I can eat more when I do eat.

I have been dealing with head hunger (ooo laughing cow cheese sounds so good right now...let me get some) so I know that's part of it. But I think the majority of my calories each day are happening after 4 pm. Anyone else deal with this? Advice?

I'm not sure that I'm qualified to provide input since I haven't had surgery. Could the carbs in the grits trigger cravings and hunger later on in the day?

I've always been an evening grazer so I save 40% of my calories for then. It seems to be working. Friday will be my 5 month surgiversary and I'm down 52 pounds. Slow and steady wins the race.

I kind of felt the same, but I think for me it is really because I am home with more options or not moving/doing as much as during day. Like it is definitely in my head.

I have 2 Protein shakes and an powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken broth throughout the day. With 2oz meals I want to boost my Protein so this extra 80g has been great. I have a Premier Protein on way to work, another one on way home, and then in evening maybe a couple hours or so after "dinner" I have the chicken "broth."

I do start to feel empty or hungry in late afternoon so shake has been great for drive home.

Last weekend, I was out in sun and walking a LOT, I was late in eating lunch even though drinking Water all day...I really felt the need for more calories (like the 190 from shake and 2 oz of yogurt was spent!). That is as close to real hunger that i have felt. I mostly feel very satisfied.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
