I'm nearly a year post-op and crackers are still not on my list of approved foods. Generally, we're told to avoid carbs that aren't something like brown rice or quinoa (in small amounts) or veggies/beans and the like. bread, crackers, Pasta are all on the list of foods to avoid.

You know some doctors say yes and othersee make you stick to Clear Liquids. I think I wouldn't personally, but if it's approved and you want to try it be my guest. I would stay away until I know I will be able to handle it

My surgeon says yes to grits and oatmeal. He even says toast(not brave enough for that yet) I know that grits aren't very nutritious but I was thinking of whipping them up with scoops of unflavored Protein powder just for something different. I couldn't stomach jellos or puddings before surgery and even after its hard to to get one down . Im already down to shakes, popsicles, and yogurt so it'd be nice to have a different texture at least once a week.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
