5 days post op and can't stop looking at pics of food

I think I'm in morning. This just goes to show how bad my addiction truly is. I'll always be a foodie. I'll always be obsessed with food, I just need to have a healthier obsession, like meal planning or something. Not eating is making things so tough. I don't remember this part when I had my lapband placed...

I am a foodie too... what i did during my "fantasizing about food" stage is that i used that time to think of ways to adapt that meal to a sleeve friendly version for when i can eat.

This helped me figure out that i can still enjoy food whilst adhering to the rules... hence no mourning...

But that stage does suck.. it will become easier once you are on soft foods... much more variety

I watched food Network CONSTANTLY. It didn't necessarily tempt me but I enjoyed seeing other people cook it!

I'm not having any problems with food. I went thru stage 1 enjoying the liquids. Then when purée came it was tasty. I've been able to keep things interesting and adapt my meals to the families. I'm moving on to soft foods and I have enjoyed fish dishes in lemon and white wine broth. Rather than thinking what we can't have Just keep things simple and master the new tummy and savor your new victory. I love cooking and it is what got me to where I am. So now I am thinking of putting a sign over my Kitchen that say's "Tasty Bites" and create just that! One tasty bite at a time.

I agree 100% with AussieGirl81 and I went through the exact same thing. It was like an obsession. I too would turn it around and try to think of a way to adapt that food. I came up with tons of my own recipes that I changed from others. I have always loved to cook, but now it brings me so much more happiness cooking healthier things for my family.

I was able to eat actual food 1 week after I was banded. Probably part of the reason it ended up failing in the long run. I do know how to eat for bariatric surgery. I did well for a year then depression hit, then pregnancy and well here I am! I had my band unfilled in March due to slip and gained MORE weight. I was 10 lbs higher than pre-band. My eating was OUT of control. I just want soft foods lol. That's all I want ???? I did have a little purees squash and was a happy camper. Today isn't as bad as yesterday.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
