So excited! Today I just got my Mirena birth control removed after having 2 (both in for the full 5 years). We are finally ready to try and have a baby! RNY 12/8/14.. Just curious as to if anyone else has had the RNY with the Mirena and how soon after removal did you get pregnant? My doctor told me today as little as a week and especially after gastric bypass you tend to be more fertile.. Also, I had someone else tell me that because of the Mirena it thins out your uterus lining, and that it may lead to complications and/or a miscarriage. And I'm just wondering about others stories and if that's true? SCARY!! Thanks in advance!

My wife had sleeve 7/1/15. She lost 120 lbs from surgery. After she got ok from surgeon, She removed her mirena on 2/25/16. She had to wait for a full period cycle and then we got pregnant in our first month of trying in April. She just passed the 4 month pregnancy mark and everything is great. She had a few issues with spotting, but hard to say if it was sleeve related at all. Either way it was nothing. I just had the surgery 7/20/16 so we can both be happy and healthy for the baby! Good luck with everything!

Thank you for your feedback! I've been reading up on some things, and there's this thing called the "Mirena Crash" meaning it mimics the symptoms of pregnancy.. and well I seem to be going through them.. I got AF on July 5th through the 10th and as I said, I got my Mirena out on July 26th and I got what seemed like a very heavy AF from the 28th to the morning of the 31st. I had unprotected sex that night, again on the 2nd and 4th. Now, if that wasn't my period I should be getting it any day now, so if I miss should I take a pregnancy test? Since yesterday morning I've been experiencing pregnancy symptoms.. Headache, bloating, stuffy and plugged nose, cough and a sore throat, no smell, no taste, backache, very tired but can't sleep, not hungry, having to pee a lot, weird cravings, and I "just FEEL" pregnant, I know most will say, can't feel it that early.. I've always been very fertile, (I have two boys 10 and 11) and I heard with the Gastric Bypass Surgery you become even more fertile, and I told my OBGYN this and she said with that and getting the Mirena removed that I could get pregnant within the first week.. But that is contradicting everything that I'm reading from other people. So naturally I am very confused, and we really want to have a baby.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
