How long till steri strips fall off?

Recommended Posts

Mine have been on for over 2 weeks, one fell off but the rest are just sort of hanging out there. Feels like a long, long time but don't know if I should do something about that.

I was told to wait until they fell off but they look dirty and gross and it seems like they usually fall off sooner.

I was also told I could take mine off a week after, but if they started to look gross or peely, as soon as five days. I have a post-op appointment at the day 8 mark, where the surgeon will look at the incisions, i'm guessing she might take them off then.

Mine did the same thing. I think it was about 10 days and one or two fell off and the others were hanging. I waited until it looked like the incisions were well closed up and then helped the dangley ones off.

A couple of mine fell off after a week and a half. The others just stayed on. I peeled them off after two weeks if they looked like they were healed enough underneath. Though, my port incision didn't heal well with the seristrips still on for so long so the dr. told me to pull them off and the incision is healing much better with air getting to it.

Mine fell of after just a few days. My surgeon said that was perfectly fine. Basically I think they're there to keep germs out and they usually fall off when the skin is healed enough to protect itself. If they fall off and the skin isn't healed enough then a regular band aid will help protect the incisions.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
