Dr's office just called - surgery set for Tuesday AM - CAN'T WAIT - I am so excited, scared, excited, scared, did I say EXCITED!!! Not to long of a wait till Tuesday - just have to make it thru the weekend and I'm sure I'll be cleaning house and doing all the things I won't feel like next week.

Thanks for letting me read all the posts here - this is a wonderful source of first hand info and so now I have joined and I can post too

Congrats on getting a surgery date! I know exactly how you feel, that was totally me last week too! I did the same thing too - cleaned, cleaned, and cleaned before I left for surgery. Goodluck and let us know how everything goes!

Congrats to both of you with upcoming dates next week!! Don't be nervous at all. This is so exciting. My only advice is hang in there...on day 6 or 7, you'll turn a corner like I did & everything is soo much better. Please update us on your surgery results. Best of luck!!!:cheer2:

Make sure your fridges are stuffed with liquids and jellos and puddings and stuff for the first week or more. I spent my last weekend at the grocery store buying everything up....hahahaha I am now three months post-op and my fridge is STILL packed with drinks and puddings and stuff that I didn't get to while I was on liquids....

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
