Maybe I shouldn't have.....

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I am 5 days out and I have this feeling that maybe I shouldn't have done this surgery.

I hate the taste/smell of Protein and the Vitamins. I have no idea how I will get by with everything. I have always been a picky, southern eater. Did anyone else have these thoughts or feelings? Is it just because I'm in the beginning stages? Thanks!

The first few weeks are the hardest, most people at this early stage have a whirlwind of emotions and uncertainty running through their minds when all you're doing is laying up at home contemplating what's just happened.

I'm in my 9th week now and I can promise you it gets better week by week! I'm almost 60 pounds down since surgery and I've never looked so good.. Stick with it, give it a few weeks and you'll find it will get easier and easier.. And as you see the results you'll see it was all worth it. Remember how unhappy you were before surgery.. And how that ultimately lead you to this place!

Yes it's because you are in the early stages. Everything changes especially your taste buds. Trust and believe in the process. You are starting over. A fresh beginning. This too shall pass!

I'm a year out and 100 lbs down. Stay in contact with others.

I wish I had done more Premier Protein in the early days. They are my favorite now. A lot of Protein for very little volume when it's hard to get much down. They would have helped with my low energy in the early days.

Everything changes over time. Trust in the process!!

I know how frustrated you are. It is all about thinking positive. I focused on the small changes. They get bigger as time passes. In one weeks time I was not huffing over a hill I had to walk from my car to the beach. Every Tuesday I meet my kids at. I took my shakes and Water. And saw inside 3 weeks my energy grow. That was my victory, then saw the scale say 20 lbs down. Now I'm all in! Stay on this site and use the feed back to keep you going! We are here for you!!!!!

Well done on losing those 12Ibs.. Loss is a loss no matter how much, have you been losing weight every week? Or have you perhaps been in the dreaded 3 week stall still??? I luckily only had a stall for 4 days and then the weight loss continued but a LOT of people hit a stall after 3 weeks, lasting up

To 6 weeks.. But after that period the weight rapidly comes off apparently!

I just focus on Protein Protein protein, I have 6 little tiny meals per day and a protein shake! I don't excersize, I honestly don't have the energy. Keep your head up and make sure you're following your doctors meal recommendations. Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
