Homemade sugar free popsicles

Recommended Posts

I made some homemade sugar free popsicles today that are actually really good.

I got the cheapo popsicle molds from WinCo (grocery store for those not in the USA) and some sugar free Jello. I made the jello a bit stronger than the directions called for. (3 cups total instead of 4), filled the molds with it and froze them.

They turned out great. They're soft, like sorbet, and still only 12 calories per bar.

My surgeon suggested pouring protien shake into ice cube tray or popsicle molds for a frozen treat. Haven't tried yet but sounds good.

I do the Protein smoothie popsicles. vanilla protein mixed with almond milk and blended with fruit. It's not ice-cream but it IS refreshing, filling, and helps me win the TV night snack battle.

This is a great suggestion! I'm experimenting before my surgery (3 weeks away today). I tried freezing crystal light pops...tasted good but freezes like water...duh! So they are tasty ice cubes but a little challenging to eat

I'm going to make a hybrid pop for post op using unflavored Gelatin and the clear Premier Protein in the fruity punch flavor. :) Hope it works and makes them softer rather than icy.

Great idea!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
