I'm 3 weeks post op and have very suddenly had issues drinking Water. Even the smallest sip hits my stomach and causes instant discomfort. It's so strange and out of nowhere. Wondering if this is just a little phase?

Also, my sense of smell is INSANE. I smell everything and anything and it's driving my insane. Everyone smells terrible to me, my house stinks, etc. What's going on?!

I have the smell issues too. I'm almost two weeks out. I can smell -everything-. absolutely no way I'm pregnant. It's normal, happens to a lot of folks.

For the Water issue, if it lasts more than a day or so, call your doc. It could be a significant issue.

I had a very easy time with liquids at first. But now that I've moved on to puree and soft food I'm finding that it can be a little uncomfortable to drink Water after consuming real food. The 30 minute wait is not quite long enough for me to take big sips, those have to wait to 1-2 hours after eating my 2 oz of food.

I'm in my 5th week post-op and Water continues to be my biggest challenge. I'm using water enhancers like Mio drops to help, I've found that even a few drops adds enough smell that the water is more palatable. My sense of smell is off the charts right now...I'm about to turn 52 and my sense of smell had deteriorated a bit in the last few years (I think my CPAP nasal cannula contributed to it), but it's BACK!!

I have to have lots of ice in my Water and then I can sip it without issues.

I knew I wasn't crazy... the Water thing is real! It nauseates me every time I drink it! I can drink anything else but plain water. I keep trying and some days it isn't horrible, but I still get mild to strong nausea. I have no idea what that is all about. I add flavor drops and it's fine; it is only plain water that makes me nauseous. Weird...

The Water thing for me is an issue as well. I get a pain in my chest if I drink too fast or too much too quickly.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
