So I went out of town this weekend and my phone was acting a fool and had to be master reset. I realized I had a message and checked it. Well it was my surgeon office telling me I was approved by my insurance and August 11th will start a new life for me. I sitting here nervous, happy, anxious, excited, and scared all at once... Anyone else having these feelings all together????

@@MonicaEMT the first 6-7 months I was tired pretty much all the time because it took me a while to be able to get in the calories my body needed to function. Still, I had no complications or anything. Now I feel freaking amazing and I've lost almost 170 since surgery. I went a size 32 pants to a size 16 pants, and a size 3x-4x shirt to a large or xl shirt. Generally, this whole experience has been scary, difficult, tiring, confusing, and completely wonderful. It's been a whirlwind of change in such a short time, but all for the better. :)

Just noticed from another post that you're in the area. Would love to meet up. Who's your surgeon? I have Dr. Terracina.

Awesome!! I'm so glad I found someone so close. All my family is out of state so I'm flying solo in this journey for the most part. You just made my day! :-)

Best of luck, and yes I definitely have mixed emotions going on! Excitement, panic, fear, the unknown. I'm about a month pre-op, but looking forward to a fresh start, a new outlook on life, and no more worries about fitting into restaurant booths, airplane seats, etc. You can do this!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
